SABAK BERNAM, Jan 16- The Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) has allocated RM36.4 million in aid for asnaf (the poor and needy) and converts in the state to support the upcoming school session in February.
Mohd Sabirin Mohd Sarbini, Chief Executive Officer of LZS, stated that the assistance includes school fees and equipment for each asnaf child. The distribution will benefit 1,119 preschool children, 33,117 National School (SK) students, and 7,790 Religious Primary School (SRA) students. Additionally, 36,292 students in National Secondary Schools (SMK) and Religious Secondary Schools will receive support.
"This initiative by the Selangor Zakat Board aims to ensure that all students in Selangor can continue their education without dropping out," said Mohd Sabirin. "The educational aid program extends beyond preschool, continuing through to higher education institutions and skill development after high school."
He made these remarks following the symbolic launch of the 2025 LZS Education Aid Distribution Program in Sabak Bernam.
Each aid recipient will be provided with a pair of school uniforms, and they will have the option to redeem additional school supplies at designated supermarkets or outlets, as approved by LZS. Redemption for school equipment will be available starting this Saturday and will continue until April 17.
