TUMPAT, Jan 17– The Ministry of Women, Family, and Community Development (KPWKM) is urging parents linked to Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISBH) to reclaim their children currently residing in eight Social Welfare Department (JKM) institutions.
Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri stated that, as of now, 107 children remain under the care of these institutions.
She also noted that 448 children from the charity home have been returned to their families, while five others were handed over to eligible and suitable individuals (OYLS).
“I encourage parents of these children to come forward and claim them, as this is their right. Pursuing this through government channels could take a long time, and the outcome of court proceedings may not guarantee the desired results,” she said.
She emphasized that the ministry’s actions are based on the law, and expressed that those who wish to adopt children should approach them directly.
“We have no hidden motives. Our goal is to help, and adopting a child is not a simple process. There are many children in our institutions who have been abandoned, and it is important for people to adopt responsibly,” she added.
Datuk Seri Nancy made these remarks after launching the KPWKM's MADANI Integration Program, in conjunction with the handover of the MADANI Lift Village Physical Project in Tumpat.
Also present at the event was Datuk Dr. Maziah Che Yusoff, Secretary General of KPWKM.
The Global Ops operation, launched on September 11, successfully rescued a total of 560 children from charity centers associated with GISBH across the country.
