Tunku Azizah conferred the Honorary Doctorate in Creative Arts

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, has consented to confer an Honorary Doctorate in Creative Arts on the Tengku Ampuan of Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, during the 100th Convocation Ceremony of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) at the Tuanku Canselor Hall, UiTM Shah Alam today/BERNAMA

SHAH ALAM, Nov 13- Tengku Ampuan Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah was awarded an Honorary Degree Doctorate in Creative Arts.

Her Majesty received the honorary doctorate during the 100th Convocation Ceremony of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) at the Dewan Agung Tuanku Canselor, UiTM's main campus, here today.

The award was presented by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, who is the seventh Chancellor of UiTM.

Tengku Ampuan Pahang was awarded and recognised as an icon in the field of art, especially in her efforts to preserve and promote Malay cultural heritage on the international stage.

"First of all, I would like to congratulate my sister Tengku Ampuan Pahang on being conferred an honorary doctorate in creative arts.

"This award is in recognition of her contribution to the country's creative arts. She has successfully brought the country's creative arts to the international level," said His Majesty.

This honorary degree is a high honour to Tunku Azizah for her dedication, innovation, and commitment in uplifting the cultural heritage arts, especially in the field of textile arts and traditional crafts.

A total of 25,957 graduates received their diplomas and degrees in various fields at UiTM's 100th Convocation Ceremony.
