KUALA LUMPUR,1 January - In an unprecedented achievement, the Voice of Percussion (VOP) drumline has won 1st place at the Thailand World Music Competition (TWMC) in Sisaket on the December 21, marking the first time in history that a Malaysian team has claimed the championship title.

As the only Malaysian representative in the competition, VOP showcased their exceptional skills in marching drumming arts, impressing both judges and audiences after a year of training and preparations.

Following their historic victory, the VOP director, Habibi Nasution, shared plans for 2025, stating:

“Going to this year, right after being champions, our focus is on expanding activities beyond competitions.

"We want to create a system that serves as a module for the entire nation, helping everyone learn the fundamental aspects of marching arts," he said.

He added that they aim to elevate the marching arts scene in Malaysia, encouraging youth to join and appreciate this dynamic form of expression.

He said this to RTM after being a guest at the Selamat Pagi Malaysia (SPM) programme in Angkasapuri.

VOP’s victory not only celebrates their talent but also paves the way for the future of marching arts in Malaysia.
