KUCHING , Jan 14- A single-storey permanent house in Lorong Sim Kheng Hong Dua Kenyalang Park in Kuching was engulfed by fire last night.

According to the Sarawak Fire Operations Centre, the dispatch received an emergency call at 9.56 pm and rushed to the scene of the incident.

Upon arrival at the location, the fire had spread rapidly due to the lack of an isolation wall. The incident involved six houses with one house being 100 percent destroyed.

The Operations Release Team used the "offensive defensive" technique and pried open the roof of the house to boost air circulation.

In the meantime, the extinguishing team also did a "fire break" in the fifth house and the action succeeded in preventing the fire from spreading even more.

The operation ended at 12.13 am and no casualties was reported.
