BINTULU, March 21– To ensure the safety of the country’s waters, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Bintulu Zone has been carrying out a Special Operation on Sea & Public Fences in the Ocean since March 12. This operation not only focuses on maritime security but also includes community outreach activities to engage local residents.
Bintulu Maritime Zone Director, Maritime Captain Muhammad Suffian Eldine Abdullah, stated that the operation aims to enhance preparedness in tackling crime and illegal activities in the country’s waters.
“Along with monitoring controlled items, we also focus on inspecting suspicious boats and ships,” he explained.
“In 2024, the total value of seizures and arrests from previous operations reached RM20.5 million,” he added during a briefing at Kapal Setia yesterday.
Notably, the operation also brought some joy to the community by distributing *bubur lambuk* to ships at sea, showing care for the maritime community, especially during the month of Ramadan.
Muhammad Suffian further explained that the Special OP on Sea & Public Security Fences in the Ocean is expected to continue strengthening both the security of the country’s waters and the relationship between security forces and the local community.
