KUALA LUMPUR, February 8- A total of 300 participants participated in the RTM 2025 Open Chess Championship held at the Tun Abdul Razak Institute of Broadcasting and Information (IPPTAR) Hall.

The chess championship started at 9.00 am with two categories, namely the open category and the under-12 category.

The championship is the second largest championship after 2018.

RTM Head of Broadcasting, Datuk Suhaimi Sulaiman, who officiated this championship, said it was a good opportunity for children to take advantage of the school holidays by honing their talents in chess.

"Many children under 12 years of age participated. This is not only very encouraging, but it is also very good and we will do it for the third time next year, God willing," he told reporters here.

The championship was organised by the RTM Chess Club under the RTM Angkasapuri Recreational Sports Club.

More than 500 visitors, including participants, attended and supported the tournament.
