LANGKAWI, Feb 18- A row of 10 shops on Jalan Pantai Cenang, here, were about 80 percent destroyed in a fire, earlier this morning.
It involved a laundry shop, a pharmacy, food stalls and a storeroom.
According to the Operations Center of the National Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM), they received an emergency call at around 2.42 am.
"17 personnel and officers from the Padang Matsirat Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) and Langkawi BBP were mobilized to the location," it said.
"The fire was successfully brought under control at 3.14 am and the operation ended at 5.46 am," it added.
"No casualties were reported. The cause of the fire and the value of the damage are still under investigation," the statement said.
