PETALING JAYA, March 17 - The Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in six states until 10.00 this morning.
According to METMalaysia, the areas affected in Selangor are Klang, Kuala Langat and Sepang, Negeri Sembilan (Port Dickson) and the entire state of Melaka.
The same warning was issued involving several areas in the state of Sarawak, namely Kuching, Samarahan (Samarahan and Asajaya) and Mukah, while in the state of Sabah it involves the interior (Kuala Penyu), Tawau (Kunak, Semporna and Lahad Datu) and Sandakan (Kinabatangan) as well as the Federal Territory of Labuan.
The warning is usually issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rainfall intensity of more than 20 mm/hour that is imminent or expected to occur for more than an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single issue.
