Number of people affected by floods in Johor increases, Sabah decreases

KUALA LUMPUR, March 25- A total of 1,853 people from 504 families have been affected by the floods in Johor, as of 6.00 am today.

This figure is an increase compared to 1,781 people from 503 families, as of 12.00 midnight yesterday.

The Disaster Portal of the National Disaster Control Centre (NDCC), National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) informed that 21 temporary evacuation centres (PPS) have been activated in five districts of the state.

"Johor Bahru is the most affected district in the state with 680 flood-affected residents from 152 families. They are housed in six PPS.

"This is followed by Batu Pahat, 621 people affected by the flood, Pontian (410 people), Kluang (74 people) and Kota Tinggi (68 people)," the statement said.

Meanwhile in Sabah, a total of 138 people from 41 families were housed in one PPS in the state.

The figure remains unchanged, compared to midnight last night.

It only involves the Beaufort district.
