PUTRAJAYA, May 4- The Ministry of Health (MOH) is satisfied with the level of compliance with the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering (Price Marking for Drug) Order 2025 which came into effect on May 1st.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said his ministry would not impose fines or compounds on private pharmacies and clinics during the first three months of the order's implementation to give entrepreneurs time to understand and implement the instructions clearly.
"Three months are needed for both parties to be clearer and more knowledgeable about how to make the display. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to visit three community pharmacies and a private clinic in Kuala Selangor and they all showed various methods to make the display.
"So far, I am satisfied with the compliance with the instructions," he said in a press conference in conjunction with the Lung Health Initiatives Malaysia 2025-2030 briefing here, today.
He said that all clinic and community pharmacy premises are required to display the prices of medicines sold to consumers either on display shelves, catalogues or written price lists.
The directive was implemented through the gazettement of the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering (Price Marking for Drug) Order 2025 which requires all medicines to be clearly marked with prices.
“I am confident that everyone will participate in this matter. Our party will also hold engagements with private general medical practitioners (GPs) to assist with the aspect of compliance. I would like to emphasise once again that GPs are an important backbone in the country's health sector. Therefore, I will definitely take good care of their welfare,” he said.
