KUALA LUMPUR, February 3- His Majesty the King, Sultan Ibrahim, expressed gratitude for the strengthening economic development of the country, including domestic economic performance and increased investment.

His Majesty stated that the value of the ringgit has stabilized and the unemployment rate remains low, indicating confidence in the economic policies implemented by the government.

"Last year, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth reached 5.9 percent across various sectors, while the country's total trade surpassed RM2 trillion within the first nine months," His Majesty said during the opening ceremony of the First Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th Parliament today.

He also congratulated Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the government for their commendable economic achievements and expressed hope that this growth momentum can be further enhanced.

However, His Majesty reminded that the good economic performance should benefit all citizens, not just certain groups.

He welcomed the targeted subsidy approach, which has contributed to strengthening the government's financial situation, while urging that its implementation be efficient and effective to ensure that the benefits reach those who truly need them.
