JOHOR, 4 February - Johor recorded a 4.5 percent decrease in the rate of road accidents with 1,169 cases recorded this year, compared to 1,221 cases last year, through Op Selamat 23 which was conducted in conjunction with the Chinese New Year.
Johor Police Chief, Datuk M. Kumar said, the number of fatal accidents also recorded a decrease, with eight cases recorded this year, compared to 13 cases in 2024.
"The downward trend can also be seen in the number of summons issued, with 11,645 summons recorded this year, compared to 23,386 summons last year."
"In addition, 40 individuals were arrested, for driving under the influence of alcohol, and reckless and dangerous driving," he said in a statement.
He added that the full enforcement approach, as well as the advocacy carried out by the Johor Police, contributed to the reduction in the rate of cases of the offence.
