SEREMBAN, May 4 – A teenage boy lost his life in a tragic accident involving two vehicles—a van and a motorcycle—on Jalan Persiaran Senawang 1, near the traffic light intersection at Matahari Height in the direction of Paroi.
According to a statement released by the Seremban District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mohamad Hatta Che Din, preliminary investigations revealed that the accident occurred when a van, driven by a 44-year-old man accompanied by a 20-year-old female passenger, was travelling from Senawang towards Bahau.
"Upon reaching the intersection, the van driver is believed to have failed to stop at a red traffic light and collided with a motorcycle approaching from the left side," said ACP Mohamad Hatta.
As a result of the collision, the 20-year-old motorcyclist sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The van driver and his passenger, however, were unharmed in the incident.
The victim’s body was later transported to the Forensic Department of Rembau Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
In connection with the incident, the van driver has been taken into custody to assist with further investigation.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which pertains to causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
