KUALA LUMPUR, February 3- The government will continue to formulate more effective strategies to address the issue of online fraud or 'scams' to protect the public in the future.

Communications Minister, Fahmi Fadzil stated that they will take a more proactive approach in delivering accurate and non-misleading information to the public.

"On the part of the government, particularly agencies such as the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), and several other agencies, with the amendments approved in the previous Parliament session, we now have several new powers and laws that can be implemented to tackle scam crimes," he said when met by reporters in Parliament today.

Earlier, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim, in his address at the Opening Ceremony of the First Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th Parliament this morning, reminded the public to always be vigilant and not to fall victim to cybercrime.
