KUALA LUMPUR, February 5- Malaysia is on track to record its targeted economic growth this year, despite the risk of a tariff war.

Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli said confidence in Malaysia's medium- and long-term growth prospects has remained unchanged, as demonstrated in the past month.

"What happens in the market as a result of this trade war is something that will ultimately be taken into account and evaluated by the market.

"Eventually, it will come back to the value proposition that Malaysia's economy can give back to the world.

"On that note, several hypotheses that have attracted interest in the national economy over the past year still remain," he said after the launch of the latest World Bank report on "A Fresh Take on Reducing Inequality and Enhancing Mobility in Malaysia" here.

However, the government will continue to monitor developments on the global level, following increased tensions in trade.

Meanwhile, he said the speed of digital technology driven by artificial intelligence (AI) still shows a growing trend and this will benefit the country as a main semiconductor hub.
