Strong rapids blocked path, 11 climbers were rescued at Lata Perangin

TANJUNG MALIM, February 16- Four children were among the 11 individuals who faced a moment of anxiety after becoming stranded following a hiking and swimming activity at Lata Perangin, Muallim, yesterday afternoon.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) received a distress call about the incident at 6.15 pm.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director (Operations) Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said members from the Tanjung Malim Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) were mobilised to the location.

The incident involved 11 victims comprising three adults, four teenagers aged 14 to 16, and four children aged 10.

On the trail back down the hill, all the victims were unable to cross the river and were stranded due to the strong rapids.

The Operation Commander then confirmed that all the victims successfully crossed the river before they were escorted down from the area.

All 11 individuals did not suffer any injuries and the operation ended at 7.37 pm.
