PUTRAJAYA, 16 August - The Government agreed that the Malaysian Remuneration System (SSM) be replaced by the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA) which will begin from 1 December 2024.
The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim explained the decision after taking into account various factors including careful and prudent consideration.
He said, the SSPA is a recognition of the great sacrifices made by all public servants, especially when the country is hit by the COVID-19 epidemic.
"The SSPA that was drafted is not just a reform and increase in disposable income that will be enjoyed by civil servants, but it is a performance-based remuneration system.
"Those who are excellent will be rewarded, those who fail to exhibit good performance will be subject to action. As such, SSPA must be measured based on productivity and direct contribution to the efficiency and achievement of public services at all levels," he said.
He said this while speaking at the 19th Majlis Amanat Perdana Perkhidmatan Awam (MAPPA), here.
Datuk Seri Anwar added that civil servants who do not show good work performance, often do not attend the office without the approval of the Head of Department will not be rewarded.
This is done in line with the desire to ensure raised productivity in public service and to maintain the well-being of officers, for which the principle of rewards based on performance and a code of conduct is introduced.
