Deputy Health Minister Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni

KUCHING, 23 Jan- A total of RM40 million has been allocated to upgrade 50 poor clinics in Sarawak under the Bitara MADANI Initiative of the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MoH).

Deputy Health Minister Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni said the allocation has increased compared to previously, thus proving the government's sensitivity in upgrading its health facilities, particularly in this state.

"A fairly large increase through the upgrading of 50 clinics in 2025. Last year we also built many clinics, one of which is the Singai Clinic and part of the allocation we have heard so far announced by the Prime Minister and Premier of Sarawak is RM50 million where we will build six or seven new clinics that we have demolished and planned to rebuild," he said.

He explained that the ministry will continue to monitor the proposed clinic upgrade project so that the process runs smoothly, thereby ensuring that rural communities have pleasant health facilities.

The minister was met by reporters after the Let's Get Healthy with the Community Programme in Kuching today.

A total of more than 300 participants took part in the programme which involved Zumba exercise activity and walking 10,000 steps.

Meanwhile, in order to empower the people's health facilities particularly in this state, he announced that the MoH will launch two health hubs in Kota Samarahan and Sibuti respectively this year.

The hubs will become a one-stop center offering medical, health counseling and a My CHAMPION community one-stop center.

He said the establishment of the same center will be extended to all parliamentary constituencies. So far, five health hubs have been established in Sabah.
