LONDON, Jan 16- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed satisfaction following his meeting with his counterpart, Keir Starmer, as the United Kingdom government is ready to cooperate with Malaysia in strengthening bilateral relations.

Both leaders are also ready to find solutions to the conflict in Gaza, including expediting a permanent ceasefire process.

"We had the opportunity to have a one-on-one discussion to expand relations between the two countries, covering various aspects," Anwar said.

"We also discussed solutions to the Gaza issue, including a ceasefire," he added.

He said this to reporters outside the UK Prime Minister's office, here.

Anwar also said Starmer was given an explanation regarding Malaysia's ASEAN Chairmanship this year.

Meanwhile, Starmer said the meeting was a welcome opportunity after six months of him serving as Prime Minister.

He said the meeting was important as Malaysia takes over the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025.

"This meeting represents great potential for cooperation. I am very enthusiastic to discuss priorities and ideas with you," Starmer said.

"Thank you for the investment and commitment you have shown in this cooperation," he added.

According to Starmer, the UK and Malaysia have close and historic ties, and he welcomes Malaysian companies investing in the country.
