KUALA LUMPUR, February 27 - There are no development plans in the Gua Pelangi area in Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan so far, said Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan.
However, the matter can be considered based on existing requirements and provisions, in addition to carrying out studies to obtain more significant information on the site.
"MOTAC always cooperates with any party, including the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) through the Global Archaeological Research Center (PPAG) of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), the Negeri Sembilan Museum Board and State Authorities (PBN) to continue research on the archaeological site of Gua Pelangi through allocations obtained from MOHE and MOTAC sources."
"Therefore, in order to continue the research, USM can apply for allocations such as the Heritage Fund (KWW), the Cultural Sector Matching Grant (GSSK) or the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS)," he said.
The deputy minister said this when answering a question from Jelebu Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Jalauddin Alias, regarding plans to upgrade the Gua Pelangi area as a geopark and archeology area, as it has historical and archeological elements in the limestone cave cluster.
In the meantime, MOTAC welcomes the involvement of all parties to promote Gua Pelangi, indirectly helping to add value in ensuring the sustainability and value of the site is always preserved.
