PETALING JAYA, Feb 27- Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) will carry out monitoring from Ramadan 1, on Ramadan bazaar traders to ensure that only local traders who have permits are allowed to do business.

Petaling Jaya Mayor Azahari Samingon warned traders not to profit from 'ali baba' bazaar sites and that strict action will be taken if found doing so.

"From the first day we will do monitoring and I have already asked the enforcement officers and officials to be involved. They will go down to the bazaars. If there are those who are not supposed to do business there, we will confiscate the items and we will withdraw the existing licenses," said Azahari, here.

He spoke to reporters after presenting donations to 100 seniors and disabled people (OKU) in conjunction with the arrival of Ramadan with a total allocation of RM30,000.

The Mayor hopes that such initiatives can be continued and expanded to ensure that more individuals in need can be helped.

A total of 959 bazaar traders in 18 locations are provided by MBPJ throughout Ramadan this year.
