No decision yet on whether to bring more injured Palestinians

Minister of Defence, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin

KUALA LUMPUR, August 19 - The proposal to bring in more injured Palestinians to Malaysia to receive medical treatment has not yet been decided.

The Minister of Defence, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin explained, for now the government has not yet been able to make a decision about it, considering that the process is not an easy task.

However, he had time to share the development of 41 Palestinians who are now being treated at Hospital Angkatan Tentera Tuanku Mizan (HAT) in Wangsa Maju.

"I believe that we will provide a thorough and appropriate treatment. So, for now they are in the process of being treated. A person cannot be treated in just one day. Depending on the types of injuries, some require a long period of treatment," said Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled to reporters today.

He was met after officiating the Fly Jalur Gemilang Campaign in conjunction with the 2024 National Month Celebration at the Ministry of Defense (MINDEF) level in Wisma Pertahanan.

Meanwhile, the public is advised not to be deceived by any individual or non-governmental organization (NGO) that collects donations specifically for Palestinian patients being treated in this country.

Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled explained that his party has never used any individual or NGO to collect donations for Palestinians brought to Malaysia to be treated at HAT at this time.

On the other hand, MINDEF and HAT have their own channels to help all 41 Palestinian patients.

"If there are parties who claim to be raising funds for Palestinian patients, I believe please verify with us first. We do welcome people who want to help, but help directly (through the proper channels). The ministry will issue a statement regarding this matter," added Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled.
