KUALA LUMPUR, February 12- The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) has put forward five recommendations to overcome the challenges of implementing the Social Innovation Policy (DIS) at the community level.

Its Deputy Minister Datuk Mohammad Yusof Apdal said that among the steps that will be taken include improving programmes in the form of external outreach, coordinating and streamlining the provision of incentives, as well as making the Yayasan Inovasi Malaysia a hub for technological design and innovation at the community level.

In addition, he also emphasised the importance of encouraging innovators to obtain Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM) in collaboration with the Malaysian Department of Skills Development.

"Potential innovators will also be given assistance in terms of exposure related to global standards," he said when answering a question from Simpang Renggam's Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Utama Ir. Hasni Mohammad in a question and answer session at the Dewan Rakyat, here, today.

He said the move is in line with MOSTI's aspirations to bridge the gap in social and economic inequality through innovation and technology.
