MOH ensures sufficient health facilities and medicines in flood affected areas

Health minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad

ALOR SETAR, 1 December - Health facilities including medicines to treat patients in areas severely affected by floods in Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah, are sufficient.

Health minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the Ministry of Health (MOH) is constantly monitoring current developments and the needs of the facilities.

"I get reports that are close to real time because we have a Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) that operates almost 24 hours and provides updates. So I know the situation in Kelantan is bad, hopefully everything will be fine," said Dr Dzulkefly.

He said this to reporters after visiting a flood relief centre (PPS) at SMK Kepala Batas, here.

In a related development, he said the MOH also sent medical teams from several states that were not affected by the floods to assist with the needs of patients among the evacuees.

Kedah is among the states worst affected by the floods and to date, the State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat said the number of people affected by floods exceeds 8,000 people.
