SUNGAI UDANG, Jan 11- All agencies in Melaka are now on standby to deal with the possibility of flooding in the state.

Melaka State Senior Exco for Housing, Local Government, Drainage, Climate Change and Disaster Management, Datuk Rais Yasin, also advised residents, especially those living in low-lying areas, to be vigilant.

"Therefore, my message to the people of Melaka, especially those in flood hotspot areas, is to always be alert and cautious," he said to reporters here.

He also reminded the community to be aware of instructions from the authorities in the event they need to evacuate due to flooding.

Earlier, the Malaysian Meteorological Department issued a continuous rain warning that is expected to involve several states, including Melaka.
