KUALA LUMPUR, August 22 - Malaysia and India expressed their commitments to elevate the relationship between both countries to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) level.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the agreement was reached with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi during his three-days official working visit to India that ended yesterday.

The premier also said the visit to India was successful as Malaysia managed to secure potential trade worth RM8 billion in the palm oil and palm oil-based product, chemicals and chemical product, oil and gas, as well as aircraft spare parts sectors.

“Overall, the visit to India has reached its objectives where Prime Minister Modi and I had a deep and transparent discussion,” Datuk Seri Anwar said through his Facebook post today.

At the same time, he also expressed his appreciation to India's government for the warm hospitality given throughout his three-day visit, which started last Monday, to the country.

“My appreciation to the Government of India for their friendly hospitality, as well as to the ministries, government agencies, the High Commissioner and media friends who are together in ensuring this visit is a success," Datuk Seri Anwar added.
