ALOR SETAR, December 14 - The Kedah State Zakat Board (LZNK) aims to collect donations of RM10.176 million for the waqf (‘voluntary endowment’) of "Hassan Project" Rice Mill.
The Hassan Project Cash Endowment Certificate was launched by the Sultan of Kedah Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin on October 3rd.
LZNK Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Syeikh Zakaria Othman said the Hassan Project is a project of LZNK in collaboration with the Kedah State Islamic Religious Council; Malaysia International Islamic Financial Center (MIFC); Association of Islamic Banking and Financial Institutions Malaysia (AIBIM); Wakaf, Zakat and Hajj Department (JAWHAR); Yayasan Wakaf Malaysia as well as INCEIF University.
The Hassan Project aims to create savings, justice and transparency in the rice industry ecosystem of Kedah.
"With the existence of a rice mill in the Hassan Project, the rice produced by ‘asnaf’ participants in Asnaf's Large-Scale Smart Sawah Programme can be reprocessed to be distributed back to the ‘asnaf’ group at the Destitute Food Supply Distribution Center in the mosques," said Syeikh Zakaria.
The target collection of waqf donations to finance this project is RM10.176 million which can be paid through QR Codes and LZNK counters.
