JOHOR BAHRU, Jan 12- The Malaysian Immigration Department of Johor deported 224 foreign detainees to their home countries, since last Monday until yesterday, after they had completed their prison sentences for various immigration offences.
According to a statement from the Johor Immigration Department, the repatriation was carried out via Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) 1 and 2, as well as the Stulang Laut Ferry Terminal, Johor Bahru.
The foreigners involved were 128 Indonesians, 38 Bangladeshis, 19 Pakistanis, 14 Indians, 13 Vietnamese, six Nepalese, five Thais and one Cambodian.
All of them were given temporary travel documents to return to their home countries by their respective embassies.
They were also blacklisted in the Malaysian Immigration Department's system, and are not allowed to re-enter the country for a set period.
The cost of the flight tickets was fully covered by their savings and contributions from family members.
