KUALA LUMPUR, January 5- The People's Income Initiative, or the Inisiatif Pendapatan Rakyat (IPR),through agricultural projects and entrepreneurship incentives is seen as capable of eradicating extreme poverty.

Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Management at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Associate Professor Dr Mustazar Mansur stated that this step provides opportunities for the people to increase their income through agricultural initiatives, food businesses, and service operators.

"For example, during the pandemic, they (the people) lost their jobs and at the same time did not have capital.

"Therefore, the government has provided programs such as agricultural assistance and vending machine assistance.

Through this program, they receive support from the government, and the government helps them become self-sufficient," he said to reporters here.

He explained that the vending machines supplied under the IPR in the Food Entrepreneur Initiative category can help the extreme poor generate sustainable income.

Previously, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that the issue of extreme poverty needs to be addressed urgently, including restructuring existing project projections.
