KUALA TERENGGANU, Jan 4- The government's preparedness in disaster-related matters is aided by research conducted by universities to find the best solutions for mitigating disaster impacts, including the implementation of the Flood Mitigation Plan (Rancangan Tebatan Banjir - RTB).

This demonstrates that the government takes the welfare of the people seriously in addressing these issues.

Associate Professor Dr. Roshaiza Taha from the Faculty of Business, Economics, and Social Development at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) stated that the government has also allocated financial resources for infrastructure improvements.

"In terms of research, since 2014, the government has provided significant funding to researchers to study the effects of floods, methods to manage floods, and all flood-related matters.

"In fact, these studies should have been completed, and one presentation has already been made. I believe that past research needs to be revisited to utilize the findings for implementation," she said to reporters here.

Meanwhile, efforts for the Flood Mitigation Plan in affected states have been implemented progressively with the support of professional groups before decisions are made.
