PUTRAJAYA, August 12 - Directions, policies and cooperation for sustainable growth in the energy sector are expected to be the focus of the APEC Energy Ministers' Meeting (EMM) in Peru.
The Malaysian delegation was led by the Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, at the two-day meeting that will begin this Thursday. Discussions also focused on the energy transition and efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of the APEC economy.
Datuk Seri Fadillah, who is also the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, will highlight the country's stance on several issues. Among them, the country's energy transition efforts, ensuring an inclusive and equitable energy transition and aspiration towards achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
This will be achieved through the implementation of the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), the Hydrogen Economy Roadmap (HETR), and the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030.
The country's partnership and involvement in related initiatives is expected to drive positive prospects for green investment potential for investors from the Asia Pacific region. Attendance at the meeting is expected to reinforce the country's image and position as a clean and high-value investment destination.
Datuk Seri Fadillah is also scheduled to hold bilateral and multilateral meetings with counterparts from APEC economies and international industry players to expand cooperation in various energy fields.
