KUALA LUMPUR, August 12 - The government will prepare a new framework to improve the performance of sports and athletics in the country in preparation for future international events.

The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, explained that the initiative is to increase achievement in line with the country's future focus through sports.

However, he welcomed the achievements of the country's athletes in the Paris 2024 Olympics and called on Malaysians not to complain about the achievements of the country's heroes and heroines in the games.

"They have tried their best. We should accept the results... Regarding their hopes and future, we will prepare some new frameworks to improve the performance of sports and athletics in the country.

"We have to focus on the future but in the meantime, let's not complain because the athletes have tried their best," he said after officiating the 2024 Malaysia Commercialization Year Summit at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center here.

In the meantime, Anwar denied the allegation that there will be a cabinet reshuffle involving the Cabinet in the near future. He explained that he had just been informed about the report. Anwar said he was not aware of or had heard anything about such a plan.

“I was just informed about this. I haven't heard anything … who is planning to help with the reshuffle? This is serious; I’ve not heard anything,” he said.
