Eight-year-old boy missing after falling into drain in Johor Bahru

JOHOR BAHRU, Nov 16- A boy was reported missing, after falling while playing by a large drain in Bandar Baru Uda, Johor Bahru, Johor, at about 3.50pm, yesterday.

North Johor Bahru Police Chief, ACP Balveer Singh Mahindar Singh said the eight-year-old victim was believed to be playing with two friends aged seven and eight by the drain.

The victim then slipped into the drain, before being swept away by the strong current.

The Crime Scene Control Post (PKTK) has been opened at the scene of the incident and search operations with the Johor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) and the Malaysian Civil Defense Force (APM) are being actively conducted up to the nearby river area.

The case is investigated according to the Police Inquiry Paper - Missing Persons.

A total of six firemen and an FRT engine were moved to the scene of the incident, as soon as they received an emergency call to start the operation to rescue the victim, yesterday.
