DUNGUN, Feb 25- Residents of Taman Madani, Bandar Al-Muktafi Billah Shah, here, want authorities to take immediate action to capture a wild monkey in the area that injured a child last Sunday.
Resident, Shafie Abdul Rahman said the presence of the wild animal was worrying because it had the potential to act more aggressively and injure more victims.
"We are especially worried when children return from school or head to religious classes. The monkey attacks when there are no adults around, causing us to be increasingly concerned for the safety of residents," he said.
In 5.30 pm incident, Muhammad Ammar Hakim Sanusi, 10, was injured by the animal's bites and scratches on his arms and back while preparing for a religious study class near his home.
The victim received treatment at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital, Kuala Terengganu.
The victim's father, Sanusi Butak, 53, hopes the authorities act quickly before more people become victims.
"The monkey has been roaming around for the past two to three years, believed to be looking for food such as fruits and sugarcane in our orchards. This situation is dangerous for residents, especially children," he said.
