PUTRAJAYA, Feb 25- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will undertake a two-day working visit to Vietnam beginning today.
According to Wisma Putra, Anwar is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the ASEAN Future Forum (AFF) 2025 on 26 February.
The forum serves as an inclusive platform for discussions and dialogue among ASEAN leaders, policymakers, experts, think tanks, business leaders, and stakeholders regarding ASEAN’s future direction towards a more inclusive, sustainable, and competitive community.
"The Prime Minister's keynote address will emphasise Malaysia’s commitment to MADANI values and Malaysia’s aspirations as the ASEAN Chair for 2025, as well as the country's priorities in inclusive and sustainable economic development, digital transformation, climate change, and renewable energy,” Wisma Putra said in a statement.
During the visit, Anwar will also call on the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam and the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Luong Cuong as well as meet the country’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
The meetings will provide an opportunity for Malaysia and Vietnam to strengthen bilateral cooperation under the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Several key areas will be in focus, including trade and investment, defence and security, maritime economy, science and technology, energy and tourism, as well as the issue of illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
The leaders are also expected to exchange views on regional issues in an effort to strengthen ASEAN cooperation.
This visit reflects Malaysia’s commitment to strengthening relations with ASEAN Member States, in line with Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship theme of “Inclusivity and Sustainability”.
"The visit also aims to further enhance bilateral relations between Malaysia and Vietnam while expanding cooperation at both regional and international levels," Wisma Putra said.
