KANGAR, Feb 27– The Ministry of Education (MoE) is paying serious attention to the issue of cyberbullying involving teachers, in order to ensure that educators are protected and can carry out their duties without any disruption.
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek insisted that any act of cyberbullying against teachers needs to be dealt with immediately by the school and the District Education Office (PPD).
"We have provided various forms of support to teachers, involving the school, PPD, the State Education Department (JPN) and the Ministry of Education itself. All investigation processes and actions will be done in accordance with the rules and established working procedures, in order to ensure protection for teachers," she said.
She said this to reporters after attending the launch of the Jamalullail Digital In School Perlis (JLiDS) which was officiated by Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, here.
The issue of cyberbullying against teachers gained attention again following the incident of a teacher being the target of cyberattacks after a Year One pupil allegedly went missing at a primary school.
With respect to this matter, Fadhlina said teachers are advised to be more aware of cyberbullying threats as outlined in the 2023 Special Circular Number 11: Guidelines on Values and Ethics for Social Media Use.
