PUTRAJAYA, August 15 - Civil servants should strive to improve service in line with the increase of civil servants’ salary that will be announced by the Prime Minister tomorrow.

President of the Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs), Datuk Dr Adnan Mat said this reflects the government's concern and continuous efforts to balance the income and cost of living of over 1.5 million civil servants in this country.

In this regard, on behalf of the civil service, he expressed their high commitment to continue providing excellent services to the people and economy, as well as carrying out their duties with responsibility.

“We express our gratitude and thanks to the MADANI government of  Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“We want to convey to the government as our employer… and also to the people as the recipient of our services… to give our assurance that we will continue to provide the best service to the people and the nation, as we have done before," he said.

Dr Adnan is confident the important announcement to be made tomorrow at the 19th Majlis Amanat Perdana Perkhidmatan Awam (MAPPA) will detail the rates of civil servants' salary increases.

"We eagerly await the specifics of the salary adjustment mechanism ranging between 15 percent until 42.7 percent or more than that.

"I'm confident with this salary increase, we will still give our full commitment, do not doubt it, and to the government, we will give the best return as announced regarding our salary increase," he added.

He was met by reporters after a meeting with the new Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN), Datuk Seri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar here yesterday.

Dr Adnan said the meeting discussed several matters including the commitment of civil servants, in addition to expressing full support for all the government's agendas and direction in developing the country.
