KUALA LUMPUR, January 24- More than 9,700 Kuala Lumpur Police officers and personnel have been assigned to control security and order throughout the 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship.
This move is to oversee 186 meetings that will be held around the capital.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief, Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa, said that thorough preparations have been carried out, in addition to optimizing the strength of personnel to ensure the safety of delegations and the public visiting Kuala Lumpur.
"We mobilize everything, we mobilize all departments, we optimize, we maximize. This means that we must carry out outside the box duties.
"... and I have also informed that before every small and large meeting held, there must be thorough preparations and if we need to ask for assistance from Bukit Aman or other states, we will ask for it, especially for traffic and peacekeeping," he said.
In conjunction with the ASEAN chairmanship, regular meetings will also be held to strengthen the safety of the public and delegations.
He said this after the Kuala Lumpur Police Monthly Assembly at the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK).
