PUTRAJAYA, August 30 - Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will deliver a special address at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) here at 5.00pm this afternoon.

About 7,000 guests consisting of civil servants, pensioners and veterans as well as non-governmental organisations are expected to attend the programme organised by the National Unity Ministry, to foster the spirit of independence among malaysians, especially among the younger generation.

The event will be broadcast live on local television stations and through the Prime Minister's official Facebook page.

Earlier, the National Unity Ministry division secretary (Community Development) Zaimy Shaari said the event would features booths showcasing Malaysia's diversity as well as activities highlighting the stories of unsung heroes that fought for the country's independence.

Over 17,000 participants from 59 contingents are expected to attend the spectacular event, featuring a parade consisting of 25 marching bands, 439 military assets and an airshow.
