BANTING, August 30 -Users can start using Section 1 of the West Coast Expressway (WCE) August 31, 2024 (Saturday) at 12.01a.m.

The route starts from the Banting intersection connects to the South Klang Valley Expressway, (SKVE).

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said that tolls will be exempted for a month until September 29.

"Toll-free access will be given to Section 1 of WCE Expressway users only, which will make it easier for users to travel to Perak and Selangor," he said this at a press conference during the Opening Ceremony of Section 1 of the West Coast Expressway.

"Highways are not just about moving from one location to another, but it actually drives development in the areas it passes through,

"The opening of this highway is also expected to turn Port Klang into an economic hub. We hope it will be a significant catalyst for economic development," he said.

He added that 10,000 vehicles are expected to use the highway daily.

In addition, he also informed that Section 2 of WCE Highway is scheduled to open in December.

The 12.5 kilometer (km) highway is part of a project that crosses the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia connecting Changkat Jering in Perak (North) to Banting IN Selangor (Central) along a 314.5 km route.

Section 1 of the WCE also connects to the Klang Valley Expressway.

For users around the Klang Valley, they can access the route via Jalan Banting-Semenyih route (FT031) to the Banting Interchange at the junction of Kampung Sungai Manggis.

Users can also pass through the Kota Seri Langat Toll Plaza as the starting point for toll collection on Section 1 of the WCE.

After that, users can go through the SKVE Junction 3203 which marks the end of Section 1 and can enter the SKVE Highway through the Tanjung Dua Belas Junction, SKVE 2608.
