PETALING JAYA, August 27 - The Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) and The Ministry of Higher Education put forward proposals regarding talent development in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).

The Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said, the suggestion that will be made by the Ministry of Finance is expected to be considered in the 2025 Budget.

He explained, both ministries will exchange ideas to support the rapid development and adoption of AI.

“It is important for us to equip the industry with AI-savvy talent so that both ministries could cooperate to ensure these talents from Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) universities or institutions will get AI training. This also allows us to have enough talent when the industry uses AI”, he said to reporters after officiating the AI Conference 2024 here today.

In his speech, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul said, the Malaysian Productivity Corporation (MPC) and Nexus Productivity play an important role in managing relations between the industry and empowering businesses to adopt AI.

He added, businesses that step up the use of AI technology will be more competitive and strengthen the country's position as a leader in the global AI landscape.
