Aerotrain project still in testing stage

Transport Minister Anthony Loke

PUTRAJAYA, 15 January – The Automated Passenger Movement Service (Aerotrain) project is still in the multi-phase testing stage, according to Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

He explained that the contractor is currently conducting dynamic tests, along with several other assessments, to ensure the system is functioning properly.

"At present, dynamic testing is underway. Following that, there will be full system testing and integration before the project is handed over to the authorities for final checks," Loke said during a press conference on Malaysia’s passenger and cargo traffic performance for 2024, held at the Ministry of Transport.

Although there was an earlier expectation that the Aerotrain system would be completed by January 31, Loke clarified that no definitive date has been set by the contractor as of now.

Last year, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) announced plans to replace the old Aerotrain system with a new one. The project involves significant investment and requires ample time to ensure all testing phases are thoroughly completed.
