TANJUNG MALIM, Jan 15- Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) has been mandated to launch the Learning Recovery Support Programme, known as the Anak Kita Programme.

The programme involves selected Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2025 students in Johor and is managed by Yayasan Hasanah together with the MADANI Monitoring Unit.

The programme was officiated by the Education director-general Azman Adnan at the 2025 Johor Early School Assistance (BAP) Cheque Handover Ceremony as well as the Handover of Devices and Collaborative Certificates for the Anak Kita Programme: SPM Tuition (UPSI) Programme at the Johor State Education Department (JPN) Seminar Hall, on Monday.

In his speech, Azman insisted that digital education is the key to the progress of the country's education.

"Equipped with the device, students can access learning materials more easily and effectively. This programme is the government's effort to ensure that no students is left behind in this digital era," he said.

Meanwhile, UPSI Vice Chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr. Md Amin Md Taff said a total of 2,293 devices had been distributed to 85 schools in Johor as part of an effort to improve students' academic achievement.

"The device handover is an important initiative to ensure students have access to digital learning and accelerate the implementation of SPM tuition in 2025," he said.

According to him, the programme is a significant step to address the issue of dropouts in the education system, providing an opportunity for students to overcome learning challenges through more focused guidance.

The Anak Kita Programme is part of the Learning Recovery Support Programme - Semarak Potensi Malaysia, a collaboration between the Ministry of Finance, MADANI Monitoring Unit, Ministry of Education, and Yayasan Hasanah.

UPSI has been entrusted to manage the programme in six states, namely, Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, and Sabah.

"This programme aims to deal with the issue of dropouts, strengthen the literacy and numeracy skills of primary school students, as well as increase the SPM's passing rate.

"We are confident that this effort will reintegrate student drop-outs into the mainstream education system," added Dr. Md Amin.
