IPOH, Nov 22 – A Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS) at Dewan Orang Ramai Simpang Halt in the Larut, Matang, and Selama district was opened last night following floods in the area.

The State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, in a statement, reported that the PPS is currently housing 66 flood victims from 23 families.

Meanwhile, the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) reported that the water level of Sungai Rui at the Jalan Raya Perak (RHN) Bridge in Hulu Perak has reached an alert level of 165.55 meters (m), exceeding the normal level of 165.10 m.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) forecasted thunderstorms and rain in Perak during the afternoon and evening.

The affected districts include Larut, Matang, and Selama, as well as Kerian, Perak Tengah, Hilir Perak, Kuala Kangsar, and Kinta.
