198 cases of cross-border smuggling of subsidized goods in Perlis successfully thwarted

PADANG BESAR, October 24th- A total of 198 cases related to cross-border smuggling of subsidized goods in Perlis have been successfully resolved for the period from January to October 23.

The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living in Perlis said the confiscated items were valued at RM1.222 million.

The amount had dropped sharply after the implementation of Ops Tiris 3.0 last year in which 312 cases of smuggling with a value of RM4.464 million were recorded.

According to KPDN Perlis Director, Hasbullah Abd Rashid, the biggest case involved the smuggling of RON95 Petrol and Diesel which recorded a seizure value of RM218,259 and up until October this year, RM33,900.

He said this at the State KPDN Office.
