KUALA LUMPUR, October 24th- There is no need to establish an operation center at the Kuala Lumpur Airport (KLIA) to address weaknesses and combat 'counter setting' syndicates.
Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner, Tan Sri Azam Baki said the agency had established a monitoring unit at KLIA.
He was commenting on the proposal by certain parties for the MACC to establish an operation centre in KLIA.
On the reforms carried out by the Immigration Department at the counter system at KLIA, he said MACC is always in contact with the department to monitor the matter.
MACC had previously listed 11 major problems and weaknesses involving the Immigration Department.
These loopholes had up open up space for syndicates to bring in foreigners using the 'counter setting' modus operandi.
He said this at the MACC Officer Basic Course Training Ceremony (Assistant Superintendent Grade P29) at the Akademi Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia, Nilai.
