LABUAN, Dec 26- Damage to the coarse dirt filter (band screen) at the Raw Water Pump System in Muka Sauk, Padas River, Sabah, as well as a pipe leak on Jalan Patau-Patau, Labuan, are the main causes of water supply disruption on the island, currently.
A statement from the Labuan Water Supply Department (JBA) said it is affecting efforts to raise the water level of service tanks on the island, subsequently resulting in very low water pressure, at only one meter.
Areas furthest from the main tank are the most affected.
Although it has not reached the optimum level, water tank control operations are being carried out so that all service tanks can be filled.
Apart from this, 64 static tank units have been stationed throughout the main areas for the use of residents.
More than 90,000 Labuan residents have been experiencing disruptions since 18 December.
Among the causes are maintenance and repair work at the Water Treatment Plant in Beaufort, Sabah, as well as damage to pipes and main pumps on Pulau Enoe.
