KUALA LUMPUR, 28 December - Gathering viewership data is crucial for creating high-quality television content that appeals to a wide range of age groups.

Director general of broadcasting, Datuk Suhaimi Sulaiman said data insights assist production in creating more impactful publications, encompassing the choice of singers, actors, and news formats designed to capture audience attention.

"Nowadays, data is essential. Data is crucial. If we're producing anything, data helps us with processing, publishing, and making the right choices. Take news, for example, how do we engage people? It all comes down to data," he said.

He said this to reporters after appearing as a guest on RTM's Selamat Pagi Malaysia programme on TV1 in conjunction with Malaysia Television Day.

Suhaimi is optimistic collected data will improve television viewing and maintain its relevance in the digital era.
