Two arrested after a body is found in a car boot

MERSING, Dec 29- Police arrested two individuals to assist in the investigation following the discovery of a local man's body in the boot of a car at Kilometer 26, Jalan Jemaluang-Kahang, here, yesterday.

Mersing District Police Chief, Superintendent of Police Abdul Razak Abdullah Sani said the body of the 28-year-old man was found fully clothed in his black car with injuries to the neck.

He said police received a call from a member of the public regarding the discovery of a car in the bushes on the roadside at 1.50 pm before moving to the scene of the incident to carry out an inspection.

"Based on intelligence information, the specially-formed investigation team has succeeded in arresting a man and a woman, both locals, suspected of being involved in the incident at 4.30 am," he said in a statement here today.

Abdul Razak said the two suspects, aged 33 and 35, were remanded for seven days starting today to assist in further investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code, for murder.

"Following these arrests, the case was successfully solved in less than 24 hours," he said.

Earlier, a post went viral on Facebook about the discovery of a car that was thronged with flies, along Jalan Kahang-Jemaluang.
